For the life of me, I can't understand why they don't just put the patch on all the game discs. The only reason I can think of is that MS doesn't want the patch floating around in people hands in case they decide to bring back their DRM and always online policy.

Actually you could prove that there are not molemen at the core of the earth if you looked at the core and saw no evidence of it. The difference between that and the afterlife is that no-one has looked at the afterlife and comeback to tell about it. Well a few have, or as I'm sure you would say, claim that they have.
